I am so excited to reveal the cover for my third novel, coming June 30 from @LFPbooks. This gorgeous artwork perfectly captures the simultaneous decadence & despair engulfing Berlin in the early 1920s. (I just had to include the spine!!! Love Else’s silhouette hanging out there)

People using Chat GPT to write clearly think that it makes their writing better. It doesn’t. It makes it so much worse, and everyone sounds the same, and it’s SO OBVIOUS to everyone but them.

Do you ever write a story and as you're reading it over you find absolutely GENIUS double meanings, foreshadows, and allusions that you didn't even mean to put in? Like, yes, I am brilliant! I also am completely unaware of what I am doing! 👶

I'm sorry that disabled people make you uncomfortable, Autumn. But “your psyche will do insane things to try to sustain the illness” is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Believing I wasn't sick in 2021 is what helped me become mostly bedridden. Take your ableism elsewhere.

I’ve heard from people in various writing jobs that they’re no longer allowed to use em-dashes because it is a “dead giveaway” of AI. Many authors are now scared to use them too. Congrats AI supporters, you’re helping diminish people’s creativity even faster than we anticipated.

I just realized that much of the time when I describe my main character's emotions, I focus on her stomach. "Her stomach twisted"...."her stomach dropped".... "her stomach was full of ice".... why am I so obsessed with stomachs?! Are tummies the seat of all emotion??!
