I think med school should have a module about all the things in the last 50 years that medicine took as fact and were later shown to be myopic or incorrect. The assignment should be to write a case for something that we have likely gotten wrong now #medtwitter

I think medicine in general really under-acknowledges how toxic the patient-doctor relationship can be & what a mindfuck that is E.g., patients whose symptoms are dismissed that then turn out to be serious rely on the very same doctors/teams/system to actually help

Its weird that doctors are like "#longcovid is a mystery" yet patients everywhere, many with zero research/medical training, worked out things like POTS, MCAS, ME, dysautonomia, SFN, clotting, etc etc

I dont think #POTS experts realise how all-consuming the first line treatments can be: 🚰Drink loads of water...that you can't retain because part of POTS is water-retaining endocrine dysfunction (and going to toilet every 30 minutes with orthostatic intolerance is a breeze 🙄)

At my last neuro appointment, the neuro asked me to send a list of my current symptoms, so i did along with 4 pages of ranting about how shit everything is and how we should be focused on improving my baseline, not waiting for me to lose independence before acting...

When doctors say "i PrAcTicE eViDeNcE-bAsEd MeDiCiNe", what they really mean is... 1. Picking and choosing what evidence they approve of 2. Not even reading the latest guidelines 3. Refusing to read scientific literature (and being pretty shit at understanding it anyway)
