I have never, in my 7 years of covering protests across the nation but especially Los Angeles, witnessed what I just saw right now. Journalists are puzzled as to what just happened.

UPDATE 🚨: As LAPD were about to make arrests, all of the police officers just … left. I’ve never seen anything like this. Hundreds of police with zip ties, and all of them have just left. No arrests, protestors shout in victory as police leave the area.

What I witnessed tonight is like nothing I have ever seen in my life. Complete lawlessness, anarchy, body’s dragged away after scuffles, blood, mace after mace after mace spray, fires, explosives, the list goes on. The school and the city failed the students tonight. Insanity.

Los Angeles, CA - Parents played Oliver Anthony’s (@AintGottaDollar) “Rich men North of Richmond” as they marched to LAUSD HQ saying they have grown tired of the corruption of local politics, and agenda on their children. I have never seen this many parents mobilized.
