The Ebola outbreak has been extremely fast moving, and the news has been mostly terrible News of potential trials of vaccines and therapeutics does lend some hope - but these are some way off Catch up on the latest developments with me here (link in reply 👇)

I don't like to tweet much about politics, but if you respond to an overwhelming victory for people you profoundly disagree with by saying, "everyone is clearly stupid/evil", instead of triggering profound curiosity and reflection, you are part of the problem

RFK: We need to study the safety of aluminium in vaccines! Denmark: Here is a study of *all children* born in a 23 year period, finding no safety issues from aluminium in vaccines RFK: Not THAT kind of study! I meant one that supports what I already decided to believe!

Did you hear vaccinated people with Delta “have just as much virus in their nose so are just as infectious as unvaccinated”? Turns out vaccinated people have significantly less culturable virus present at the same Ct count They are LESS INFECTIOUS 💥 medrxiv.org/content/10.110…

In Catalonia 🇪🇸, 6yo wore masks in schools but 5yo did not A brilliant team used this to see what effect mask wearing had on #COVID19 transmission Finding: No difference between the two groups Conclusion: No meaningful effect of masking school children papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

The best data by far on #LongCovid is out from the ONS For kids, the news is incredibly reassuring - parents minds should be put to rest Rates of common symptoms after #COVID19 at 12 w for kids are extremely low (0% to 1.7%) compared to controls ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulati… 1/

This is great news - nearly 25% of all paediatric #COVID19 deaths reported by CDC were due to a coding error - now vanished! Also slightly worrying that this data was being used widely in the US to guide or advocate for policy… 😬

What's that? Just @CDCgov finally admitting they had a coding error with the Data Tracker deaths!!! They quietly removed 416 pediatric deaths this afternoon. Will there be any apologies from all the people who have been spreading panic with the old incorrect numbers?!?

It’s becoming more apparent that one of the most toxic lies sold to the public is that if you’re not terrified of this virus, you are not taking it seriously You can be informed without being afraid You can be sensible without being scared You don’t need to be ruled by fear

Something I’m surprised is never brought up about masks, is that there is *inherent value* in seeing peoples faces when you interact with them Enjoying social and emotional connections is central to who we are Seeing faces enriches this experience We shouldn’t undervalue it

Absolutely HUGE study on persistent symptoms after #COVID19 ("long covid") in 37,000 children from Denmark 🇩🇰 Incidence 0.8% compared to controls Most symptoms resolved in <5 months (often loss of smell/taste) Reassuring news from biggest study yet✅ link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Did you hear vaccinated people are just as infectious as unvaccinated with Delta? This study from Singapore shows not only do vaccines stop you getting sick with Delta, but also clear your viral load MUCH faster Vaccines make you less infectious 💥 medrxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…

Children are not “human bodies” Children are not “vectors” Children are our future; a vulnerable and precious element of our society It’s high time we put them first

If you are hearing there are no PICU beds in England because of COVID-19, that is untrue Last time I checked my hospital does not have any COVID-19 patients in PICU at all We are very busy with other respiratory viruses, but not COVID-19
