It's getting uncanny how many friends I've seen: 1) Quit their job to "figure out what's next" 2) Spend 12-24 months hopping between ideas, but nothing feels quite right 3) End up (a) getting a job very similar to their previous one, or (b) becoming a "writer on the internet"

Feel like not enough people are talking about how Chipotle is an $88B company that added a whole Cloudflare's worth of market cap YTD (+$26B, +42%!)

It's really a great question. Had a few convos about this today, here are some of the theories: - General glorification of being a founder + high IC salaries + low barriers to starting a company -> increased social pressure to start something - "Build in public" culture makes

It's funny/interesting because in India, "self-driving" is already used to mean "you drive the car yourself", because having a paid human driver is so common

Politics aside, and I know times are tough, but: Anyone else find it sad to hear the "Canadian dream" as "a home and a fridge full of groceries with enough left over for vacation"? Can't we aim higher? The "dream" can't just be basic financial security and a good No Frills run

Justin Trudeau failed in the biggest job a Prime Minister has: to work for people, not the powerful. The NDP will vote to bring this government down, and give Canadians a chance to vote for a government who will work for them.

They don’t tell you that in your mid 20s, all at once, life becomes navigating others’ emotions Life: supporting aging (grand)parents, deepening romantic relationships Work: leading a team, managing upwards All while managing your psychology: owning past choices, avoiding envy

The most thought-provoking part of @tobi's @BetaKit interview about tech in Canada: "It's the same story over and over and over again." "We started Canada on trapping beavers, and exporting the pelts to London for them to make all the money." 1/2

I've found that second-time founders generally have more success with open-ended exploration They tend to be better at manufacturing momentum + acting with much more conviction even at the earliest stages, and have a stronger intuition of what "feels" right to them

Just showed my grandma OpenAI operator and she *immediately* told me to prompt it: "Find a 25 year old girl, well educated, pretty from your point of view, disciplined"

another W for canadian healthcare: my mom just broke her hip and got diagnosed with severe osteoporosis after 2 hours of research, it's clear to me she's been at *extremely* high risk for 9 years but unless you're 65+, we don't test bone density absolute negligence

In 2019, out of nowhere, I became allergic to almost everything I ate, had 24/7 heartburn and anxiety, and lost 26 lbs I wrote about my two-year journey to find the root cause, how mainstream medicine fell short, and some lessons learned along the way:
