    i’m beyond honored to have been named a tin house scholar for a second time. attending tin house helped me believe that i could be a writer & gave me the gift of the most wonderful community. so much gratitude & love to my tin house fellows, instructors & to the TH staff 💕💕💕

    at least two award-nominated books this year are about v poor protagonists but are written by authors who were never poor. appropriating poverty for accolades is disgusting & i don’t know why we don’t talk about this more.

    when you workshop a story about a poor latinx teen who references the story of icarus and the (yt) workshoppers/instructor asks for clarity about “how would he know about greek mythology.”

    just found out my tía, the only relative i talk to, died. my entire family is estranged. she was a lot like my mom but w/ a bit more sweetness. i feel like i’ve lost a light & the only link to my family. i already miss her. pls love on your loved ones while they’re still here.

    in 2018, i walked a ball and snatched a trophy. today, i can announce that i am a 2022 @Tin_House Scholar. Both are my alltime fave achievements. 🙃 I am full of gratitude to the #thww staff, my fellow Scholars, my mom, and everyone who has supported my art and got me here.

    in my first full year of getting my stories published, i published 17 gems. 💜🦄 thank you to everyone who believed in my art when i didn’t entirely & encouraged my craft. sometimes it takes a beautiful village & i’m so glad i found y’all🥰
