Many who died in the Irish “famine” were found with green stains in their mouths, having eaten grass and nettles in a desperate measure to mute their hunger. And now we watch another forced famine, where desperation is leading to people eating grass.

After 14 hours of fasting, a family in Gaza broke their fast to lemon and cooked grass. You read that right. Grass. Allah forgive me for the times I’ve been ungrateful.

Thankfully at that time a fire department car drove up the street and I was able to flag him down. Being harassed for trying to help someone was not on my bingo card.

I just had a very distressing experience. I saw a man slumped awkwardly on a bench in what looked like an OD. I tried to get a response from him, and nothing. Yes, that is distressing on its own, but that was not the main thing. A random woman then got in my face and said he

was just high on meth (um, no) and that's how it was here and I shouldn't be bothering to help. At this point another lady stopped to help when the first lady asked if I was even from Vancouver, as if I didn't understand what was happening.

I just can’t fathom noticing and not acting. One of my first thoughts was how many people DID notice and just walked by. It’s a busy street and there were people everywhere.

My boss told me that my continued masking and general Covid precaution taking (ie not attending events/dinners etc) was going to ‘become an issue for the rest of the team’.

I was told I could not put HEPAs around the office because it ‘created a heightened sense of risk’. I said that’s because there is a risk. I have them in my own office and they will continue to be there, but apparently am not allowed to make things safer for other people.

Also a major reason why the rate of long Covid is so much higher for those with lower incomes, because rest is not possible when you are barely making it pay check to pay check. If you are able, rest even more than you think you need to.

I am so frustrated. Coworker tested positive and informed everyone they interacted with (including me first because 'I am so sensitive about it'). I of course was masked during our interactions but no one else was.

Retail/service workers are 5x more likely to die of Covid. These jobs mean higher exposure rates due to customers and workers who can’t afford to stay home while sick. Wear a mask so you are not complicit in these deaths. Remember protecting frontline workers? It still applies.

There is nobody more tired of Covid than the people still masking and demanding clean air. We are the few who want the pandemic to be over enough to actually do something about it, even in the face of pressure to conform to the masses.
