I don't think people realize how insane it is that Stoke Space manged to make a Full-flow staged combustion cycle engine in less than 18 months with a team of less than 10 people, crazy speed and efficiency.
I don't think people who got into spaceflight after this happened will ever understand just how big of a deal it was. Seeing reentry live like this was completely unprecedented.
Stoke Space's Andromeda 2 engine is incredibly unique. It's a single engine which feeds 24 thrusters around an actively cooled heatshield allowing the second stage to reenter engines first. It's also designed to operate in both sea level and vacuum conditions.
