My first job was at a gas station, where I cleaned bathrooms and pumped gas. I earned $4.25/hr, and my shirt said “Brent” instead of “Bret.” Owner was too cheap to correct it. Cleaning public bathrooms every day under someone else’s name was solid motivation to learn to code.
