MOUTHWASHING is OUT NOW!
The five crew members of The Tulpar are stranded in the empty reaches of space, shrouded in perpetual sunset. God is not watching.
I wanted to include Curly in the merch set so I made a pre-crash ID card for him and a novelty "visitor" card for Polle to even the set out. His real full name is Orion Carling. The characters didn't actually have full names at all until now.
That is how me and my sister would draw our family dog, Panos, when we were kids. He's been gone a long time but I wanted to honor his memory with the stupid little sketch in the game. This fan art is so cute, makes my heart warm!
This was from an earlier draft of the "psych eval" scene w Curly and Jim. I had to cut it down because it dragged on way too long. The most cut dialogue is in that section of the game but it definitely is better for it in the end.
Happy birthday to my mom and also Mouthwashing! This was a sketch for the first iteration of the birthday scene finale of the game when the concept of "heroes" and "dragons" were more prominent. Jimmy couldn't face Curly as a man, so he had to build him into a villain.
Having to draw Curly again reminds me just how much of a pain his hair was in the 3D model. The time crunch was real but I was like "At least no one will ever see the back of his head so I shouldn't worry too much." Well.
Anyway this gave me a nice opportunity to not only share some actual art of pre-crash Curly but also give him a full name. The other characters will keep their old ID cards but they will also get full names eventually via... something else 👀
So I tried to sign them very loosely and naturally using either just nice looking gibberish (like w Daisuke), references to names of characters in other, older stories of mine ("Grant"), or well... "Anya NoName". Again bc I thought no one would ever see them aaagh lol
The unburnt ID cards were never supposed be in the game (The burnt ones were originally only for a promo poster we never used, but I had to make the full ones first) so my only goal with the signatures was to make them illegible but look like they were written by each character.
