Every single physician needs to be comfortable with this concept. Troponin elevation ≠ MI. Inappropriate ACS therapy harms patients. #troponin #ACC18

Troponin elevation is commonly observed after strenuous exercise. Despite significant elevation post marathon (TnI 80-2000ng/L) this study found cardiomyocyte necrosis (detected with cfDNA) was very rare, suggesting troponin is released without cell death. cell.com/cell-reports-m…

In an RCT of 31,492 patients with suspected acute coronary syndrome, a rule out pathway using a hs-TnI risk stratification threshold of 5ng/L reduced length of stay by 3.3hrs (57% ⬆️ in ED discharge) with no evidence of harm at one year #ESCCongress #HiSTORIC #troponin

Troponin high -> patient die Troponin low -> patient go Im working on the nuance but that summarises my PhD and research to date cc @AnnaKateBarton

I once carved an “F” in the bathroom wall. When confronted, I explained there was no way I would have done this… I would obviously have carved an “A”. Dad fell for it. Sister “F” furious. Incredible result 🤣

Amazing to celebrate today’s victory with Scotland’s biggest supporter! In Finlay’s short time as a fan, Scotland have a 100% victory record with 0 points conceded 😁 #scotland #RWC2019 #asone

Real world study evaluating the benefits of exercise training for a 'first-time' marathon - improvements observed in BP and aortic stiffness, with a reduction in 'aortic age'. Greatest benefit in older males with high BP. Still time to get my trainers back on! #running #cardioed

Introduction of a high-sensitivity cardiac troponin I assay reclassified 1 in 6 patients with previously undetected myocardial necrosis, but did not lead to improved clinical outcomes in this large randomised trial #highsteacs #troponin #cardioed #FOAMed #lancet #ESCCongress

The new cardiology curriculum removes opportunities for subspecialist training at a time when over >90% already undertake a post CCT fellowship 🧵
