    Regardless of contract, Wizards of the Coasts' behaviour towards PanzerLion and his creative work reads at cross purposes with every public statement the publisher made in 2020 regarding PoC contributors.

    I spoke to a bunch of tabletop creators - RPGs and board games - about what a post-Twitter future looked like. The answer: exhaustion at building an audience all over, worry over social media's influence on the industry, and a big fear that many won't survive the transition.

    Baldur's Gate 3 might retroactively be the worst thing to happen to D&D as a tabletop RPG product. Hasbro seems increasingly desperate to dangle any morsel of recognizable imagery in front of that fandom as a sales strategy.

    The photograph used to promote the D&D LEGO set is so interesting to me. They're all 30-somethings who dress like they have enough disposable income for hobbies. Neither company is attempting to position their toy based on a game to a younger audience, much less actual children.

    Would there be any interest in a Discord server for tabletop journalists, critics, essayists, etc? (all seven of us lol) Twitter unnecessarily balkanizes this profession, and if nothing else I'd love a spot to grab folks for playing/reviewing/talking about games.

    The folks at @possum_creek are taking their planned crowdfunding project to Indiegogo in one of the first major departures from Kickstarter, post-blockchain plans. The move is not a perfect solution, nor without risk, but the team wants to set an example for others.

    Took a crack at a shortlist of some of the most promising smaller TRPGs for 2023. It's a good list, and I stand by it. But it's also not even close to comprehensive or complete, and I think the term "indie" is an empty indicator in most uses. Still, these games whip ass.
