Extremely rich of David Attenborough to make this BBC doc about dinosaurs when he didn’t even bother to tell his brother to stop messing around with them all those years ago, too little too late my friend

Goodbye to cinema's fairytale prince, the too-good-to-be-true golden boy who really was the gent he seemed, fighting for independent cinema and left-wing politics until the very end. My biggest movie crush. Love you Mr. Redford. Movies (and I) will never recover.

My interview with Andrew Dominik about Blonde - a film I detested - is now available online for @SightSoundmag. I think it was an illuminating chat.

In The Irishman &Killers of the Flower Moon, particularly, Scorsese turns sharply away from the self-posessed charisma of Belfort or Henry Hill and more toward the Rupert Pupkin model: uncharismatic losers who morally compromise themselves & don't truly benefit. Sad middlemen.

Inevitable but still depressing to think of the loss of Robert Towne, Donald Sutherland, and now Shelley Duvall in a short span of time, each representing something idiosyncratic and brilliant about filmmaking of their era that we have not yet lived up to.
