- Replying to @craigjcalhounIn short, far from being all about 'free markets' and rewards for taking risk, real-world capitalism is about state action to shape markets, corporate lobbying to get favorable political treatment, taxpayers bearing risk, and windfall profits at the expense of citizens.
- UK academic staff are not paid well by international standards or enough to keep up with UK inflation. Cuts to retirement benefits are cuts to their compensation. This is unjust and threatens universities that have remained excellent while so much has declined. @ucu..@UCU's demands in their dispute are reasonable, realistic and affordable.
