    I’m very worried about the information on crackdown on protesters in #Thailand.The “severe state of emergency”declared &the arrests in Bangkok are stifling freedom of assembly. The government needs to allow protesters to exercise their rights & seek dialogue, not suppress them.”

    1/2 I am alarmed about reports of excessive use of force by security forces against P. protestors in Colombia-Bogota,Cali & Popayan.There are reports of 9pers killed since 28/04.Security forces must refrain from excessive use of force &those responsable must be held accountable.

    En general, no se deberían utilizar fuerzas militares para gestionar manifestaciones. Ver CGONU 37 bit.ly/3xMVVEn. Insto a las autoridades Colombianas a facilitar el derecho a la reunión pacífica con fuerzas de seguridad adecuadamente capacitados para este fin @CIDH

    #France - Je suis de très près les manifestations en cours et rappelle que les manifestations pacifiques sont un droit fondamental que les autorités doivent garantir &protéger. Les agents des forces de l’ordre doivent les faciliter et éviter tout usage excessive de la force. 🧵

    As a general rule, the military should not be used to police assemblies see UNG37( bit.ly/2RgPHfj ). I urge Colombian authorities to ensure that only adequately trained security forces be deployed to facilitate peaceful assembly in Colombia @CIDH

    I continue to follow closely the situation in Thailand. I reiterate my call to Thai authorities to refrain from using force against peaceful protesters. Peaceful protest is not a crime but a democratic means for people to express their grievances and demands.

    I am deeply concerned at reports of intensifying attacks against peaceful protesters in #Myanmar. The use of live ammunition to disperse demonstrators is unacceptable and should stop. Those responsible should be held accountable #KeepItOn @forum_asia

    Network disruptions in Cali are being reported.Internet shutdowns violate international HR law & are unacceptable in a democratic society. I call the Colombian authorities to disclose information about this incident & refrain from imposing shutdowns during these protests @CIDH

    #Thailand I'm deeply disappointed by the Constitutional Court ruling to label calls to reform the monarchy as an attempt to overthrow the institution, in trial against 3 prodemocracy protest leaders. I remind Thailand of its obligation to protect protestors right to voice dissent

    En Cali denuncian interrupciones de la red Los bloqueos de Internet violan los ddhh y son inaceptables en democracia. Pido a las autoridades colombianas que provean info sobre este incidente y se abstengan de limitar internet durante protestas @CIDH
