Question for supporters of a wealth tax. Assume I have a £200,000 tax bill because someone has (somehow) valued my private company at £20m If I have to sell shares in order to meet pay it, and realise a capital gain in doing so, are you still expecting me to pay capital gains

If you earn £125,000, you pay more income tax on just the final fifth of your income, than someone on £68,000 pays on ALL their income. 🤯

My state pension is not a ‘benefit’. It’s something I paid for from 1969 to 2017 - 48 years. It is unaffected by anything else I earn so why should it give the Govt the right to access my bank account?

I see the usual centrist wank over Ken Clarke is in full flow. He was responsible for increasing the female pension age by five years in 1993, affecting a generation of #50sWomen and #WASPI, as well as done his utmost best to dismantle the NHS. He is another Tory bastard.

📈 Tomorrow, pensioners will see up to £470 more a year in their State Pension. 🔒 We're spending an extra £31bn every year to protect the Triple Lock throughout this parliament. 🩺 And - with £600m more going into the Welsh NHS - we're cutting waiting lists to fix the NHS.
    Readers added context
£470 x 13m pensioners = £6.1bn per year The amount he quotes is for the whole parliament, not one year. Total pension spending is approximately £125bn per year, it didnt just go up by a quarter! bbc.co.uk/news/business-…

Wondering how long the personal allowance of £12,570 will be frozen? We’re now up to 16 years that the £100,000 threshold for losing your personal allowance has been frozen 16 ! 16 years of fiscal drag 16 years of more and more people losing their personal allowance and

Quick maths on a possible capital gains tax on expensive homes. You buy a £2m property in London Tax (stamp duty) on the way in = £153,750 Tax (income tax at 45% plus NI at 2%) to have £153,750 for stamp duty = £136,344 You sell it 5 years later for £2,400,000. No real

2 pensioners on £35,000 a year income each Have a lot more disposable income than a family of 4 with one earning over £65,000 and the other earning £15,000 Yet Labour have now decided that the pensioners deserve to receive winter fuel allowances, but the family deserve to start

‘Pensions don’t even meet living wage’ Why do so many people expect the state to pay them the ‘living wage’ once retired? When they’re no longer likely to have housing, childcare or commuting costs? And after they’ve had 50 years to accumulate state provided or state

Everyone needs to remember they will hopefully get to pension age, anything taken away now will not come back. Leave the triple lock, pensions don't even meet living wage!!
