I once read an autism in the workplace explainer that said "if you ask an autistic person in an interview why they're better qualified than other candidates, they might say 'I don't know, I haven't met the other candidates'." :/ there's literally no other sane response...

I was confused how to 'rest' in a way that seems distinct from vegetating (TV, games, scrolling) or working (art, code) I grilled my friends about how they rest, and came up with a tentative list of different *types* of exhaustion, which need separate solutions

I'm terrified of 'bugs' but am much less scared of the subset I parse as "having jobs" bees have jobs spiders kind of have jobs ants definitely have jobs but: millipedes do NOT seem to have jobs. They have a high ratio of legs to probability of employment. very scary!

    1. procrastination-guilt => work 2. choice exhaustion => TV marathon, social event, flow state (gaming, coding, or art) 3. loneliness => socialize, LLMs, metta meditation 4. physically tense/inert => exercise, bath 5. thoughts racing => TV, scroll, concentration meditation

I spent some hours last month making an Anki deck for various emergencies where the outcomes will be significantly worse if you have to spend 30 seconds googling what to do. It's not extensive, or extensively researched, but it exists!

"under the present brutal and primitive conditions on this planet, every moose you meet should be regarded as one of the walking wounded. we have never seen a moose not slightly deranged by either anxiety or grief. we have never seen a totally sane moose"
