    About to get off this shift after 24+ hours and having to operate on one of the shooting victims. Not entirely sure when it’ll hit me but I appreciate everyone who reached out. I hope to get some rest and process it all at some point. Keep our Cville community in your thoughts.

    Not me drinking preworkout to counteract surgery residency exhaustion so I can study for a comprehensive exam that’s supposed to be for internal use only but is also used for fellowships in the middle of winter and a 15 year pandemic while still working 80 hours per week.

    I told myself I was gonna behave today but who was I kidding. 🧵 I just watched the system fail a Latinx elderly woman who showed up for a COVID test at UVA and was turned away because she didn’t have an appointment. She could barely speak English.

    Being able to process with past surgery chiefs who were here during A12 has helped me realize my feelings of regret and helplessness. As much good that came out of last night in the trauma bay, I wish I could’ve helped those who didn’t get a chance to make it to us…
