Imho we should aim (grain of salt etc...) to at least 3-4x the pectra blob throughput in peerdas, so 6-8x from today, and maybe more. Two things we know: 1. Most of the network can handle *a lot* more than today 2. Peerdas requires the weakest nodes to use 8x less bandwidth

Hard pills: The killer usecase for crypto is Stablecoins. The killer usecase for permissionless networks is getting all the issuers to self onboard and integrate together. A user receiving usdc doesn’t need a full node for safety or even the consensus quorum. They can

Check out this ethresearch post if you're curious about DA scaling after 4844! Tldr: we can gradually scale to 32/64 blobs, 10x 4844, and eventually beyond, up to full Danksharding, mostly with tools we are already familiar with. More blobs are coming!

From 4844 to Danksharding: a path to scaling Ethereum DA
This post stems from ongoing discussions between many researchers and client devs on the approach to scaling of the DA layer beyond EIP-4844, and is meant to summarize and make accessible some of the...

This is getting kind of tiring. A lot of people at the EF could be doing something else instead of working to make early eth holders richer, but choose to work on Ethereum because they believe it might make a difference. Constructive criticism please, not whatever this is.

If you did a 'reply all' at the Ethereum Foundation and asked "what did you get done this week?" do you think you would be impressed or displeased with the responses?

Worth noting that this was not "the Erhereum Foundation", it was Toni. It's not just decentralization theater, researchers and core devs do actually mostly speak for themselves, and decision making is diffused. Good to keep in mind for when controversial topics come around

New paper with @luca_zanolini, trying to expand the family of dynamically available consensus protocols with more practical ones (especially for the Ethereum context), to get better candidates for the "available chain" of a future SSF construction

I recently published this post, ethresear.ch/t/view-merge-a…, discussing something I have wanted to bring to the protocol for a long time. It’s very long and I was *politely encouraged* to make it more digestible, so this is for all of you that can't read two paragraphs in a row🧵

Very excited about this :) Ethereum has both an incredible breadth and depth of available problems, and a low barrier to entry. If you're motivated, you can truly come in and contribute. An internship at the EF changed my life, maybe it can change yours too 😊

One last devcon week announcement: the EF is running its first ever "formal" internship program next summer ☀️ We'll have both software engineering and research internships across a range of teams. Applications are open now and close on Dec 9, 2024 📆 Links below 👇

How to kill an ecosystem in a few simple steps: - Step 1: cut R&D funding at a critical time, with too much to do and already stretched thin No need for step 2, but if you want to go all out you could be super strict about COIs to ensure top talent knows to steer clear

I read the Ethereum Report 2024 budget report and here is whats needed to make EF sustainable: - Cut be burn rate from 130M to 30M right away - Cut the head count to 80 people - Review carefully who can stay. Remove executive roles, advisories, any part time roles, interns, free

I find it surprising that people seem to be ok with a future where eth is replaced by LSTs (possibly one, possibly custodial). What good is decentralization of staking if there is no trustless asset? Imho the staking economics debate should focus on this point first

We should keep exploring all possible futures for staking, both ones that carve out a different role for solo staking and ones that look more like today. I don't think SSF should determine what path we take. Exploring the latter path, meet Orbit SSF:

Hope we can quickly move away from the McCarthy era of Ethereum, and back to a welcoming community where anyone can find their niche, while also moving forward to a focused mindset that acknowledges competition and the need to carefully prioritize. Not mutually exclusive.

I don't get "Bitcoin is already decentralized money, focus on the world computer vision", when Bitcoin can hardly be used trustlessly due to lack of scale and programmability. Ethereum the smart contract platform and eth as its native asset allow for each other's success.
