    Use this cold email format with investors! 🤗unique connection (why the investor is a fit) 💡startup's value prop 📈traction (revenue, users, trials, growth %s, etc) 💸raise info (total amount/structure, $ committed, price if you know it) 💻link to deck ✨ask for 15 min call!

    We just had an investor pass on a deal because the leadership team had no women or people of color. ✨Diversity at the executive level is critical!✨ Founders should start thinking about this early on.

    My truth: I didn't know what venture capital was until age 27. I grew up in a rural area and was very lucky to stumble into VC after b-school (& then I worked very hard to build networks where they didn't exist before). ✨Some real talk inspiration for whoever needs it! ✨

    One of the hardest things about VC is sending a "pass" email to founders who are sacrificing everything for their startup. If possible, I try to share concrete feedback about why. Founders, what are some things that VCs have done to make the "nos" a little more bearable?

    VC friendships > VC competition This is a long game. I see lots of VCs bouncing others out of deals and playing a zero sum game. I’d rather play the long game. Focusing on real friendships and supporting other VCs. 🙏 to those of you who are both friends and collaborators!

    Every startup should have a board, even at seed stage. Many founders and VCs will disagree with me, and that's ok. I firmly believe that proper governance with a strong outside director can help a startup mitigate risk and accelerate opportunities.
