"Like Muhammad Ali, his greatness is defined by his struggle to transcend the toxic politics, discrimination and hatred of his era." My analysis of why @DjokerNole#Djokovic is the greatest champion in history (in any sport).
Before #RolandGarros semi, @carlosalcaraz, age 20, began by jumping up and down at the net to show off his younger legs. Novak #Djokovic, age 36, wasn’t intimidated. @DjokerNole knew he could rely on his stamina, patience and experience. My analysis here:
They asked #Djokovic about his knee injury. Instead of talking about himself, he thanked his surgeon and spoke about Murray, Kyrgios and others who struggle with recovery. His greatness is born of his empathy and compassion for other people. True leadership = true greatness.
After the French Open, I wrote that @DjokerNole, like Muhammad Ali, had to "transcend the toxic politics, discrimination and hatred of his era... That's why Novak #Djokovic is the greatest champion of all time, in any sport." He proved it in 2023.
"Tennis squandered a chance to win millions of new fans during its Golden Age ... It’s because tennis executives, marketing departments and media members got the story wrong. If anyone needs to change, it’s them, not Novak #Djokovic." My analysis, photos:
The umpire @RolandGarros just called a "time violation" on #Djokovic at 2:55 am on a cold damp night in Paris while Novak and #Musetti are gasping for air after playing 4 hours in a half-empty stadium. Use your head, buddy. These guys are HUMAN. They're tired. Aren't you?
The Guardian writers and others who deny #Djokovic's achievements are stuck in the old debate about the GOAT in tennis. The new debate is: how does @DjokerNole rate among the greatest athletes of all time. Should I rank him #1?
"You might think that Roger Federer was a more beautiful player, or that Rafa Nadal was the greatest warrior ever ... But they never had the world against them. Djokovic has broken all of their records because nothing ... could break his spirit."
This point shows why @DjokerNole is the greatest of all-time. He's figured out how to play #Alcaraz. Deep returns to keep him back, then move him around to open up his weaker forehand corner. Watch how #Djokovic uses angle, spin, height and lazer flat forehands to disrupt rhythm.
Serbians staged massive protests in December against Australian mining giant Rio Tinto. #Djokovic spoke about need for clean air, water. #Australian PM Morrison (chief of staff is Rio Tinto lobbyist) deported @DjokerNole. Serbia cancelled Rio Tinto's $2.4 billion lithium project.
Mary Carillo on @NBCSports says: "I want to hear about the two weeks of torture he gave his team." She repeatedly dissed #Djokovic throughout the match. They simply can't celebrate the greatness of @DjokerNole's achievements. So, I put it in perspective:
The Honourable Judge Kelly explicitly warned Mr. Tran (lawyer for Home Affairs) that if another minister uses "personal power" to act against #Djokovic, they must inform Judge Kelly in advance. (Thus a secret raid on @DjokerNole would be in contempt of court = jail time.)
Tennis officialdom, western elites, hactivist media and hostile fans have been creating a "hindrance" for #Djokovic throughout his career. @DjokerNole has responded by laughing at them and dominating almost every stat category in tennis history. My story:
WTA suspended Sharapova, Halep, Yastremska, Moore other women. ATP suspended Brooksby, Ymer, Jarry and others. But ATP's Italian chief let Sinner win tournaments, reign as number 1, AFTER he failed doping test. Now they fine him $320,000 and take away Indian Wells ranking points.
One of our exciting talent and my favorite Jenson Brooksby got suspended for 18 months...
Just because he missed the test...never found guilty..never used any doping substance...
Atp and IATA doesn't changed the rule for him but they let Sinner player after 2 test fails..
