Anytime I have a rough day running I remember the times when I was injured and unable to run at all and I realize how fortunate I am. Even a bad run is a good thing.
This is a perfect example of how none of us understand the pressures that athletes put on themselves. He ran brilliantly, he set an American Record, and earned a Silver medal, but he feels like he let people down. The World is proud of you @_Kingben_
Just got around to watching the TV coverage of the Boston Marathon and I can't keep quiet any longer. Any broadcaster that mentions the size or percentage of body fat of a woman should have their microphone taken away FOREVER. You are missing the race and exposing your ignorance.
Hey Nike,
Are you sure you couldn’t of worked out something with Allison Felix? You’re probably right, there is nothing left and the public has lost interest in her story.
If your 12yr old is the best runner in the school or city or the country, you should allow them to enjoy every minute of it. If you think it means that they are going to be one of the best as an adult, then your focus is 100% in the wrong place. Please let kids enjoy being kids.
Someone bends the rules to the point of a 4yr ban and multiple stories of abuse to athletes, you can never say “but he was a great Coach, he just took it too far” That is like saying that a man that beats his wife “but he was a great husband he just took it too far” NO HE WAS NOT
One thing to remember during championship time when you know you are extremely fit. Stop being overly concerned with how you’re feeling. Feeling good is an unimportant factor toward success. Many incredible performances have been achieved by athletes that felt absolutely horrible
For nearly 2yrs every US Marathoner was aware that the Trials were going to be in Atlanta February 29th 2020. Everyone altered their training schedules to be 100% ready on that day. Six athletes did a better job than anyone else. The talk of a do over is absurd. We have our team.
When lacking motivation to get out the door I always remember what Michigan Running legend Herb Lindsey once told me.
Just go out for 10 minutes and if it’s not your day call it. 98% of the time you will end up going much further.
Gettin out the door is the hardest part.
Hansons-Brooks Distance Project was established 19yrs ago to help DEVELOP distance runners. Still our goal. We are proud of our 13yr journey with Des. As a 2 time Olympian, Boston Champ and one of the best Americans ever, Des doesn't need development. She has more than arrived.
I think it is wrong any of us to criticize all the disappointed athletes who’s season has come to an end. I have not heard anyone say that it was the wrong decision just that they are disappointed. Disappointment means they care and are invested. That in no way makes them selfish
The vast majority of injuries during Cross-Country season are not a result of too much mileage or too much speed. They are a result of not enough running during the summer. Cross-Country begins in June.
