My hot take is that you shouldn't even have to apply for aid after a disaster. They know who doesn't have power or water. It's all on record. They could just send out money and food and water. It's a choice how they spend our resources and tax money. Not our choice, though.

I hated feeling powerless as a child, being told I couldn't change anything, hated seeing my students suffer from lack of resources when I was teaching. Then I had a baby during a pandemic and I truly understood: our society hates children. 1/7

Y'all need to understand that the college kids who are being attacked by police were around 7-10 years old when Sandy Hook happened. Elementary age. Their entire lives have been defined by school shootings. It's fucking horrifying.
