- Europe *looks* wealthier than America because more of its wealth is in public, where it benefits everyone. Parks, public transit, civic infrastructure etc etc. Fewer giant mansions and private hunting estates, because the rich pay high taxes. Itβs a choice.Great example of how Euros do have lower incomes and lower consumption. People look at a picture of Europe and say "this can't be poorer than Mississippi." But people in Mississippi actually CONSUME far more. They have big fridge, crew-cab, A/C, ATV, etc.
