Need to call out something that is driving my to madness: Pharma companies engage begrudgingly at best in most pandemic scenarios. I’m almost positive the 2009 flu vaccines were donated! These are low margin, hard to make products, and they are a total distraction from the

I sleep so so great at night knowing I’m leveraged to the hilt at a historically low, fixed rate, that lets me spend money on other things while building equity in a severely supply constrained asset I use and enjoy every day!

Remarkable from UCL finding that 8 million more people would be alive if we'd started COVID vaccination within 100 days. Pandemics throw this dynamic into relief, but the same situation exists for all high-burden diseases. See @JacobTref on the malaria vaccine rollout.

A pretty good version of this is deployable today. A really good version of this will be deployable in the next ~18 months. That we don't already have such a system is purely a matter of political will and funding.

Congressman Torres: totally with you, but it’s critical to know that even if you reduced construction costs by 50% through automation, the cost to build in NYC is actually rate-limited by severe regulatory constraints, which drive up land values and slow down projects.
