After 2 years of work, I've finally taken delivery of an actual printed copy of my second book 'The Magic of an Irish Rainforest: A Visual Journey'. I've done my best to capture the essence of these priceless, but mostly dying, ecosystems, and am over the moon with the results.

Walking around Belfast, you're left in zero doubt as to whether a community identifies first as British or Irish by the pro-Israeli or Palestinian symbolism everywhere. How our past still so often shapes where our sympathies lie: with the oppressor, or the oppressed.

A good example of the tokenism that so often passes for 'action' on biodiversity collapse: a 'bug hotel', plonked in a garden of a) Sterile lawns b) Alien plants It's shocking, I know, but what wildlife *really* needs is actual wild, natural HABITAT.

An "accidentally rewilded" 377-acre UK farm is now home to many threatened species, including turtle doves, warblers, 11 bat species, orchids + butterflies. Such examples prove how nature can recover when we let it, + that rewilding reverses nature loss.

Uragh, an ancient rainforest by the shores of Lough Inchiquin, on the Kerry side of the Beara Peninsula. This is probably as close as you'll get to primeval wildwood in Ireland, an extremely rare and precious thing (<0.25% of total land area).

Yesterday near Glenflesk, Kerry: another roadside bank annihilated with herbicide. In contrast my own place, bursting with wildflowers, pollinators and other life. We're in the midst of a global mass extinction event. Our relentless and suicidal war on nature has to stop.

Reenadina wood in Killarney National Park. The largest remaining yew forest in Europe, it has existed for at least 3,000 years. It's a unique and wondrous place, with ancient trees whose amazing shapes take the breath away...

Out of 240 nations and states on Earth, Ireland is THIRTEENTH FROM THE BOTTOM for nature. And it shouldn't be any surprise: our countryside is an endless expanse of virtually lifeless fields, sheep-shorn uplands + sitka deadzones. It's *long* past time for change. #Rewilding
