    My last name is Sukhera. It is pronounced Soo Kay Ra. Not Sookahara. Not Shakira. Telling me “I’ll never get this right” doesn’t make me feel like you care. Try asking me if you’re saying it correctly and listening to how it should be pronounced instead. It’s not that hard.

    I’ve been home in Canada for a few days and I’ve spent time with several friends who work in healthcare. The entire Canadian healthcare system is collapsing and there are no clear short term solutions. I have never ever seen things this bad. It is beyond heartbreaking.

    I am a psychiatrist who trained in the US I was trained to asked every single suicidal patient about guns before they went home I saw countless patients with PTSD from gunshot wounds I work in Canada now I haven’t had a single patient with a gunshot wound #thisisourlane

    The first time my patient died, I felt the loss deeply. Everyone told me to toughen up, and grow a thicker skin. I followed that advice and lost myself. Now I teach that we do not have to lose our humanity to become healers; we need to embrace it. #ShareAStoryInOneTweet

    I canceled my family trip to Alberta last night. With rising numbers and ignorant policy decisions, it simply is not safe for us to travel there with an unvaccinated child. #covid19ab

    Next time someone says "mental health" what if we took out "mental" and just said "health?" "I need time off for my health." "I need to take care of my health." "My (insert relationship) is struggling with their health." "I work in community health" #mentalhealthishealth
