When you think you've seen everything, but you stumble across a book collaboration between Hello Kitty x Nietzsche and Gudetama x Karl Marx

I can't stand seeing neurotipical people say stuff like "my special interest" or "overstimulated". That's not your special interest, that's your hobby and you are not overstimulated, you are overwhelmed. And you are not going "nonverbal", you just don't feel like talking.

crazy how autistic terms are becoming buzzwords in pop culture and meanwhile the r slur is also back in vogue. that’s just very interesting to me

I'm taking a break from reading by watching a video about reading. She's raised a lot of good points so far.

I guess I'm going to be controversial, but some books are more important and meaningful than others. Please don't tell me that 365 Days or Fifty Shades of Grey have the same value as The Odyssey, 1984 or Anna Karenina for example.

Someone should do a deep dive into reading slumps. Why do they happen so often? I never had a "movie watching slump" or a "video game slump". What is it specifically about reading or the culture around reading that makes people not want to engage with it?

I think this is scary. I do not want strangers to be able to modify how I look. I don't think the human psyche is developed to deal with AI. This is turning into a tool to harass people.

I've been thinking about this and this is such a huge L for men. Even the genres they "dominate" are read by almost just as many women.

finally got around to reading Convenience Store Woman! I liked it, was a solid 4⭐️for me. There is much to be explored about how capitalistic desire for convenience produces workaholism and people-pleasing and how that affects social norms and women

People who think reading in public is performative are basically telling on themselves. It's clear they think reading is extremely hard and not enjoyable, so the only possible reason to do it is to show off.

I hear this all the time. “Why are you reading on the subway? You should be scrolling like the rest of us!” There’s no such thing as performative reading. It’s good to read in public, good to read books you enjoy. Don’t let anyone shame you for seeking to broaden your mind.
Guardian headline that reads: "Is it OK to read Infinite Jest in public? Why the internet hates performative reading."
