    In the midst of a wild pain month, I haven't shared that ALA is officially 10yrs old! I am so so grateful to all the incredible colleagues & creators that I get to work with & am greatly looking forward to the next 10 & beyond.😭❤️🚀 Haven't done anything to celebrate yet, but:

    Alright someone send me to bed. I liked a TikTok vid talking abt a plot element from the author's book & thought "aw, that sounds really great; I'm jealous of their agent; I wonder who it is..." It's me. I'm the agent. Their book is sold. I just had no idea what they looked like.

    One of the things that breaks my heart about the Harper strike is how very very reasonable the ask is. They just want a living wage from an extremely profitable company whose parent company is owned by a billionaire. Infuriating.

    I'm just going to say it bc I'm fuming. At this LATE stage in the AI conversation, publishers refusing to put ANY AI language into their contracts including just the simple statement of not training on generative AI models (reserved to that author) is so deeply unacceptable.

    This is possibly an obnoxious thing to say, but when I realized we may need to try surrogacy in order to use our hard-won embryos, I set a goal of selling a million dollars in books in 6 months. I hit that goal this week. ♥️ Feeling so grateful for my clients & this industry.

    Me: Sticks leg out from under covers to cool off. Thinks "This is nice. Remember when you were too afraid to do this as a kid for fear of something grabbing you?" Also me: Instantly thinks of real and imaginary things that could grab her. *slides leg back under the covers*

    I am so furious about the @InkyardPress situation. The poor team over there! My poor clients! What a casually cruel way to handle this. A mass email?! Did we not learn our lesson about mass emails?!?! I don’t know where to even put how ragey I am right now.

    I'm so disheartened by the overwhelmingly hateful responses to The Tobias Agency making the right decision to protect their authors and trans folks. Apparently this needs saying, but TERFs need not query ALA. I'm not interested.

    I feel like this is something that gets missed a lot. The message is not that white authors should only populate their worlds with white characters. "Understand the difference between writing from a POC perspective and having POC characters in your story."

    My favorite part of the potential S&S sale is that PRH has been telling creators that they can't afford to pay as much up front & split advances into a zillion payments...that we all had to take a hit bc pandemic...meanwhile "$2.175 billion in cash, 'from existing liquid funds.'"
