Yet another example tonight of why the whole premise of a closed Super League is bullshit. Villarreal are from a tiny town, and have beaten Manchester United, Juventus and Bayern in the last 12 months. Why would you willingly lose stories like that?

I talk & sometimes shout while people play football. Commentator @Bundesliga_EN, radio @UEFAcom @talkSPORT, writer/presenter @betfairexchange, TV @skysportsnews
- This is why I’m always saying state ownership should’ve been banned from the outset. How are football authorities supposed to clamp down on clubs if they are owned by nations? There’s always going to be a blurring of the disciplinary process if governments are involved. The UK government has admitted that its embassy in Abu Dhabi & the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office have discussed the charges levelled at Man City by the PL, but are refusing to disclose because it could risk UK's relationship with UAE. [New York Times]
- This partial sale of #mufc to INEOS is working out well for the Glazers. They get to use INEOS as a shield, but never ever let it be forgotten that they took one of the great institutions of global sport, loaded it with debt and took the club backwards at every level. A disgrace.
- Just occurred to me that football’s so good for teaching kids stuff. Helps with geography, pronunciations in other languages, history (talked to the kids about the old Yugoslavia team the other day) and a whole host of other things. Half my general knowledge comes from football.
- Liverpool played every game there was to play in every competition last season. They have played high-intensity football year after year, game after game. They were so close to a quadruple. Why can people not understand that a hangover was inevitable? No panic required. #lfc
- I know that six million people have already said this, but Andros Townsend is an excellent pundit. Clear, well-researched, engaging. Lovely stuff. #Euro2024
- EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool submit formal bid to sign Japanese midfielder Wataru Endō on permanent deal 🚨🔴🇯🇵 #LFC Negotiations ongoing with Stuttgard — player wants the move as it’s biggest opportunity of his career. Surprisining move by Liverpool director Schmadtke.
- Goretzka regularly raises money for charity and speaks about social issues that need to be addressed. His actions should be seen as a badge of honour, not used as a stick to beat him with.Leon Goretzka, along with his PR management, was the main driving force behind the protest gesture of the national team at the World Cup. As a result, he had critics within the circle of the national team as well as within Bayern teammates [@kicker]
- The idea of a Saudi team or indeed any non-European team gaining access to the #UEFAChampionsLeague should be resisted with the same fervour as the opposition to the Super League. I’d rather see more places given to Norway or Hungary or Belgium.
- This is a classic Tory tactic. Turn ordinary working people against other ordinary working people by using lies and propaganda. “Don’t focus on the billions we gave to our mates, look at those greedy teachers and nurses instead.” #ToriesOutThe Prime Minister is shamelessly sending out members of his Government to tell the public union demands for a proper pay rise for public sector workers will cost every household an extra 1,000 a year in tax It’s economically illiterate, completely untrue & absolute boll****
00:00 - A bit more on Endo for #lfc fans (I have no inside track on whether he’s coming) He was a massive part of keeping a poor Stuttgart team in the #Bundesliga in the last 2 seasons He tackles until he drops, he’s disciplined, and he’s got great energy. You could get 2/3 good years.
- Replying to @Ankaman616I’m still clinging onto my “Ballon d’Or winner” shout from when he was at #bvb
GIF - Said when he signed that Endo would be a warrior for #lfc, and that fans would love him. I think he proved both points today. Superb performance.
