i read newton’s principia in high school (the original text was a bit difficult to parse, so i went with ‘Principia for the Common Reader’ by Chandrasekhar). i’ve been told it’s a rather popular choice, and many new textbooks (morin, kleppner) borrow heavily from principia still.
