Something extremely simple that @elonmusk could do to dramatically improve the health of this platform would be to automatically verify and display accounts' (or at least verified accounts') actual countries of origin

All else aside, "the October 7, 2023 incidents in Gaza" is such a revealing phrase. That is not in fact where the "incidents" on that date took place

Calling it a "hack" is quite generous to the company behind this app, which simply left these files in a publicly accessible cloud storage bucket waiting for someone to find

This is a DARPA program to counter cyberattacks targeting human vulnerabilities (things like spear phishing) Thompson Reuters is a data and tech company much larger than its newswire division, and seems a good vendor for this worthwhile initiative

Can someone explain to me why the Department of Defense provided $9,147,532.00 to Reuters for "ACTIVE SOCIAL ENGINEERING DEFENSE (ASED) LARGE SCALE SOCIAL DECEPTION (LSD)"

Notable: of the nearly $500k AOC's political operation has spent on Facebook and Instagram ads over the last 3 months, 93% has gone towards ads *explicitly excluding* users in her own congressional district

New: AOC and her team are positioning her to run for president or the U.S. Senate in 2028, according to people familiar with her operation. My look at her 2028 crossroads and what she’s doing to give herself options. axios.com/2025/09/19/aoc…

A handy tip for DC people who miss trash pickup day: pack up all your garbage into a few Amazon boxes, tape them up, leave them out front, and let the porch pirates do your waste collection for you. We'll squeeze some civic value from these SOBs yet!

maybe verify it via the location associated with a premium/verified payment method? Not unbeatable, but it'd solve the VPN challenge

The quote at the end is laughable, and such a revealing sentiment. When lefty donors fund voter registration and political transparency groups it's nonpartisan good government work. When righty donors fund a universally praised resource like Ballotpedia it's sinister subterfuge

Ballotpedia has always gone to great lengths to brand itself as “neutral,” “unbiased,” and “nonpartisan,” positioning its election data and candidate profiles as civic education for all Americans. But its funding history tells a much more complicated story.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board, February 2025 was the safest month for US air travel in at least 43 years (as far back as its data goes). NTSB logged 55 total aviation accidents, 6 of them fatal. Both are all-time lows ntsb.gov/safety/data/Pa…
