We dedicated our 2 Emmys for “Battle for Jerusalem” to Aljazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh who was killed on May 11 after being shot in the head by Israeli forces, while doing her job. Shireen’s family is still fighting for justice & accountability. Journalism is NOT a crime.

This is so disgusting and racist @CNN. They're talking about my 63-year old mother who lost over 200 members of her family in Gaza. She visited the encampment for 20 minutes and ate some hummus.

Gaza has officially gone dark. No internet or phone lines anymore. People can’t reach each other, or reach the outside world. And even the local radio stations have been allegedly overtaken by Israeli forces sending out warnings to ppl of Gaza. Gaza is being heavily bombarded

Officials in Gaza have m said they’re not able to keep track of death count anymore. Some areas have been out of reach. There’s no real functional hospital. Limited to no emergency services. People dead under the rubble.

Doctors at Al Shifa hospital are giving a press conference to counter the Israeli claims that Hamas’ headquarters is located under the hospital. They’re urging the international community to protect the hospital and the hundreds of patients currently there.

In 1948 my grandmother was displaced from Jaffa. She thought they would return after a few weeks. She died in 2021 in Egypt as a refugee, having never gone back. The scenes of return in North Gaza today has me in tears.

My mother found out that more than 200 people in her extended family have been killed in Gaza.She was previously told it was 24. This raises questions about the actual death toll in Gaza given that there’s no real way to keep track. Palestinians are in a state of constant grief
