Shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the unexpected death of Archbishop Philip. He was a dear friend whom I’ve known most of my life and his learning, wisdom and experience benefited so many people, in Paisley, Glasgow and beyond.

With an extraordinary Polish men’s group departing on their annual “extreme” Way of the Cross: they carry a 120kg cross from our Cathedral through the night city to the top of the Pentland hills overlooking Edinburgh

Pope Francis shared Christ's mercy to all, especially the poor and the vulnerable. May the living Lord now grant him the peace of eternal rest.

I’m delighted that my brother bishop, Bill Nolan, has accepted the Holy Father’s nomination as Archbishop of Glasgow. He has proven to be a dedicated leader and pastor of souls in Galloway Diocese. Glasgow has gained a worthy successor of the much-missed Archbishop Tartaglia.

The moving story of Emmanuel, a friend and colleague of mine, who believes that the intercession of St Thérèse of Lisieux saved him from a life-threatening condition. Definitely worth a watch.

interesting to note Google's 'doodle' today which marks the birthday in 1894 of the Belgian priest and astronomer Fr Georges Lemaître, he who formulated the Big Bang theory. A timely reminder of the harmony that exists between faith, science and reason.

Remember in prayer our brothers and sisters of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Edinburgh, including Fr Vasyl Kren, who are worried about their people back home. May God restore peace to the people of Ukraine.

The attack upon Muslims at prayer in New Zealand is an attack upon the dignity of every human person. May the victims rest in peace, may the many injured be restored to health. Today we stand in solidarity with our Muslim friends knowing many of them feel worried and threatened.
