What is so striking about the scene at the gun rights rally in Richmond is what you don’t see: almost no cops. Just that little cluster of state police there. No lines of riot cops. No law enforcement in riot gear.

Just got off the phone with Susan Bro, the mother of Heather Heyer, who was murdered in Charlottesville: “This path has always been predictable,” she said. “And for people to now go, ‘I never knew this would happen,’ why not? How would you not see this happen?”

It is freezing cold and these 60+ elementary school protesters are lying completely still, and no one is making a sound, just the posters flapping a little over their bodies. Alexandria, Virginia.

It looks like the students who survived the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting this February, and the parents of their classmates who were killed, will be living in a state with an NRA-endorsed governor and two NRA-endorsed senators. A lot of grief and anger in Parkland tonight.
