    Following the sudden passing this morning (Friday) of Ian Cockbain (Snr), clubs and players in all Comp games this weekend are asked to observe a minute's silence in memory and in tribute to a friend of many and a true legend of the Liverpool Competition.

    Very sad news. Ray Partington, one of the best loved umpires in the Liverpool Competition and in the Southport and District League has passed away after a long battle with Cancer. Nearly 100 messages from clubs and players were delivered to him before Christmas on your behalf.

    We have a message from Carol Rigby that Ray Rigby one of our long serving most popular umpires and a friend to many has suffered a rapid decline in health after being diagnosed with Dementia and is now in a nursing home. Our best wishes are with the family at this difficult time.

    Today, as Ian Cockbain is laid to rest, we pay tribute to one of the greatest legends the Liverpool Competition has ever seen, and mourn with his family, friends and all at Firwood Bootle and Formby Cricket Clubs.

    We have been made aware that Mike Dunn, Merseyside Youth Cricket Competition (MYC) and Alder CC is very seriously ill in a local hospice. No-one has worked harder to promote and deliver Junior Cricket in Merseyside. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mike and those caring for him.

    We have recently learned that Comp + former Southport and District Umpire Ray Partington is seriously ill with Cancer. Ray has been one of the most popular umpires on the circuit in recent times. He doesn’t do Social Media but we will ensure that any messages are delivered to him
