Nanci Griffith and I stopped by a College Station, Texas, radio station in the fall of 1978 where I snapped this shot of her through the control-room glass. She always encouraged me. My career and life wouldn’t be the same without her. I’m so sorry we lost her.

Are student newsrooms in danger of disappearing? I didn’t realize. In my day there, the @TheBattOnline newsroom gave us @TAMU journalism students a sense of community. It was a place we could learn from each other—the best classroom on campus. #SaveStudentNewsrooms
