Judge cannot prosecute charges not brought by prosecutors. They can't invent new charges. They cannot dispute when DOJ drops case. They cannot solicit or manufacture a case not brought by DOJ. forbes.com/sites/markchen…

This was the Supreme Court, not elected Republicans. The decision was based on fundamental constitutional principles. It was decidedly not political. A better counter-argument would have won the day had it been offered. Politics was not involved.
