IT'S HAPPENING. I'm writing a dream book on a dream subject with a dream publisher, working with the brilliant @emilycpolson at @ScribnerBooks! This is SURREAL. Keep going. Keep writing. Put yourself out there. Invent your own qualifications. There are no rules. Live más.

I made a Taco Bell themed literary magazine, I wrote like 3 articles for Vice once, and now I'm writing a book about my toys. This is the entirety of my qualifications. May it inspire you or horrify you.

I'm 40 and I'm just now getting to the point in life where I drink a lot of water. Did your parents give you water? I I feel like hydration was not a major priority in the 80s and 90s. Every kid has a water bottle at school. I got by all day on a single Capri Sun pouch

Okay actually I had a kind of cool day. There is an article about my lit mag as a cultural moment. I am making shit up as I go. You can just do whatever you want, lol. I really enjoy being a part of a larger lit community and I also love your writing. Yes, you, personally.

I wrote an article for @lithub about building platform. If you're an outsider, the path into the lit world is vicious. And these paths and platforms can collapse around you at any moment. In this essay I will explain how to gain a gazillion followers. lithub.com/how-to-gain-a-…

Here's a secret. Taco Bell Quarterly didn't gain national attention by accident. I've been hustling for a year, getting rejected and ignored, making connections, figuring shit out as I go, losing money, spending thousands of hours on it. For what? Because I love great writing.

Taco Bell sent me huge boxes of swag and food for Thanksgiving. I'm dying over this wreath, the wrapper-wrapped candles, and these Better Homes and Garden dishes. It's so wonderfully janky. Gonna invite @parisreview over for Thanksgiving to share my box of Taco Bell carrots.

Whoa. It came. I got a pitch email from this desk company. I told them no one would care if I pitched articles about their electric standing desks but I'm a literary influencer and they should send me one. And now it's in my driveway. I have manifested a thing.

I love my wife. She is not into literary writing and she hates Taco Bell, yet she believes in me and my extreme passion for both.
