- Just thought of doing a random comparison, of a top rated Chinese University (Tsinghua) and top rated Indian University (IISc). I am not picking on any institution, but trying to make a comparison. Generally, the top performing institutions are the best funded ones. At least

- Do you want your PhD students to be better writers? Great! Don't write their papers for them.
- If you are a senior PhD student and are depending on your advisor (all the time) to tell you what to do next, you are doing it wrong. It's always better to go to them with a list of options and then use them as sounding board to weigh the pros and cons of each.
- TIL, thanks to @ManjulBhargava, that what we know as Fibonacci numbers are now called Virahanka-Fibonacci numbers, to acknowledge their real origins, which happened way before Fibonacci.
