There inherently comes lots of reflection along with my decision to retire from professional baseball this week. As part of the coping process I’ve decided to write a note to my teenage self. Thank you to all who have supported & followed my career, from the bottom of my heart 🤟🏼

It’s gotten out of hand.
Looking at arsenals on paper is much different than implementing changes that yield better in-game results. Same goes for mechanical changes.
It’s easy to say that someone should:

It’s tough to put into words what this company has done for both my playing and post-playing careers.

What level of intent would you call this?
At the time (returning from labrum surgery in 2016) I would’ve told you it felt damn near 100%. Sitting 82-84 in pens.
Looking back, I’d call it about 50-60% effort and 100% visually horrendous.

Here’s a take that will ruffle some feathers:
Pitchers don’t throw harder by manufacturing better positions.
They throw harder by applying more force to the baseball at release.

Lucky to call Hags a teammate and friend, as we were both part of the 2015 recruiting class.
