I'm excited to announce the 2026 schedule of Lincoln Park Kidical Mass! Our first ride is TOMORROW. We always meet at the Tin Man statue (Webster/Lincoln) in Oz Park & ride to a different destination every month. Tomorrow, it's Sunshine Playground. Hope to see you there!

The shopping cart return discourse bums me out. Returning your cart is one tiny way to demonstrate care for your community, even when it’s (very mildly) inconvenient. We’ve lost so many of those social norms, & it’s depressing to see people defend it, especially parents.

This is why I believe so strongly in cities. Socialization is like a muscle, and living in a dense, walkable environment is like going to the gym every day.

Because nothing is impossible and libraries are amazing community resources that can be anything we want them to be, here's a thread of playgrounds inside of libraries all around the world. Spokane, Washington

This is the purest distillation of American car culture I've ever seen.

Wife’s pregnant with baby #2, so we’re SUV shopping. Debating: do we really need a 3rd row? Also, my wife has epilepsy — her last seizure happened on the highway So we’re looking for top-tier safety ratings What should I get ?

people complaining about kids no longer going outside or riding bikes is because if you try to be a normal parent, other psycho helicopter parents will call the cops on you nj.com/advice/2023/03…
A newspaper advice column called "Ask Amy" by Amy Dickinson that starts with "Dear Amy: I've become aware that my neighbor has been leaving her 13-year-old at home alone while she goes to work on Saturdays. I'm concerned about this child and wonder if I should call CPS (Child Protective Services) to report this parent for neglect" sent in by "Concerned Neighbor"

Every argument I've ever heard from people who hate cyclists boils down to "they force me to pay closer attention when I'm driving."

One of the most undercover villains in the fight for safer streets is fire departments who insist on responding to all emergencies, not just fires, in gigantic ladder trucks instead of smaller vehicles.

Center-running electric trams running on grassy tracks in America? This is the kind of sustainable transportation innovation that can only be constructed in the futuristic world of [checks note] 1893.

This is what cyclists and pedestrians are talking about. We’re not making it up. It happens all the time. Drivers feel entitled to get to their destinations as quickly as possible, and they will threaten the lives of anyone who even momentarily slows them down. Enough.

After walking for less than a minute legally on the crosswalk a driver tried to run over pedestrians on the sidewalk while another driver tried to run us over

A driver almost hit my husband in a crosswalk today & then they walked into a shop at the same time. My husband said, "You almost hit me back there," & the driver screamed at him, followed him around the store, & threatened to call the cops. Why do cars make people like this?

And the erosion of these norms adds up to create a society where no one trusts anyone else, even with their kids locked in a car for the 20 seconds it takes to return a cart. We are creating the low-trust society, people! Be the change you wish to see in the world!
