I cannot stress this enough, don’t rob yourself of the good moments in your life. Don’t spend joyous moments expecting doom, complaining or worrying about other things. Live in those moments. Celebrate them. Life will shift, and that moment will be gone. So cherish it

Someone could be going through their darkest time in life. Then they see a film, listen to a song, read a book, hear a comedy routine, or see a painting & suddenly in their darkness appears a light. I don’t care how hard the business is don’t give up on your art! It holds power

Shonda Rhimes was so right. “Doing the thing undoes the fear.” Once you do it, its not as scary as you thought. Or maybe it was, and you made it out alive. But the key is just doing the thing.

It is only your job to keep planting as many seeds as you can, not worrying about when & which one will grow. If you keep planting seeds, it is inevitable one of these days, one will grow. Plant & move on to the next. Stop worrying about the results. The right one will bloom soon

It’s April 1, and I don’t know who needs to hear this, but God can’t bless the work you don’t do. He wants to open doors. He wants to elevate you. But you have to do your part and bring your work to the table, so he can bless it. Stop procrastinating and do what needs to be done.

Went to an awards consideration screening for #Sinners . Seeing him get emotional about how much this film means to him and his gratitude for the support. I know one thing, this award season him and this film better leave home with something. He has given us so much through film.

#Ironheart is the series all black girls deserve. It’s a homage to my home city Chicago, to black girl genius, to black girl friendships and to little black girls everywhere who longed wished they had someone who looked like them reflected in the movies and comics they read.
