40% of the Land in the 48 lower states is owned by government. 96% of Alaska is owned by government. 50% of the West is owned by the federal government. America was founded on the idea that the people would own the land and therefore have the means to control our government.

We're to believe the land they want isn't: - Naturally Beautiful - Suitable for hunting or grazing - Compatible with life - Desirable at all And at the same time is: - Valuable enough to reduce our debt - Suitable for high density housing There's a lie in here somewhere.

The very few restrictions they have put on this land have been the best attempt to avoid the tragedy of the commons in human history. Their ownership of it gives these wild places a very good chance of existing for generations to come.
