    I have written endless letters to the last 3 Prime Ministers and rarely even received a reply. On Tuesday I’ll be meeting with Keir and his team and begin the urgent conversation about how we can now work together to deliver for South Yorkshire. Change is coming.

    Hey South Yorkshire, do me a favour, make sure the police know how grateful we all are please. They’ve had leave cancelled, they’re spending time away from their families to keep us safe, and many of them faced unbelievable levels of violence on Sunday. They deserve our thanks.

    Sadly, after a day of coughing and spluttering, it seems I’m going to have to miss tomorrow’s meeting with Keir, Angela and the team. I’m sorry not to be there, but I’ve written to Keir to set out just some of South Yorkshire’s priorities for the new government.
