Denis Villeneuve prays every night before he goes to bed that David Zaslav neither reads the Dune novels nor looks up their plot summaries on Wikipedia.

Everybody in this cartoon is on their phone trying to figure out why the newyorker dot com site will never let them stay signed in even though they click the box that says “stay signed in.”

To be fair to Apple, it is a tough choice deciding between funding a miniseries starring a buzzy movie star that would be the culmination of Sofia Coppola’s career-long creative project OR one hundred shows about astronauts that nobody watches.

Florence Pugh was slated to star Sofia Coppola's ‘The Custom of the Country’. However, Apple abandoned the project. “It’s a real drag. [….] They didn’t get the character of Undine, she’s so ‘unlikable.’ But so is Tony Soprano,” says Sofia Coppola.

Matthew MacFayden's performance of the "soft pitch" monologue in that finale is some of the weirdest, most precisely tuned, like, *efficient* acting on TV. Nobody would give three shits about SUCCESSION if the acting wasn't ALL so good, but MacFayden is and was the best of them.

You may have liked the TRUE DETECTIVE finale or you may have hated the TRUE DETECTIVE finale, but one thing is indisputable: Nic Pizzolatto is on Instagram, posting other people's stories about how Issa López ruined the franchise like an absolutely enormous baby.

Every Sunday, HBO airs an incredibly tender and funny TV series about people dealing with grief, the contemporary American social landscape, and ambivalence about their aging parents. The show is called SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE.

Everybody's like "Democrats need an influential podcast empire!" But Democrats have one — it's just a bunch of middle-aged former staffers who basically act like Disney Adults but for the first term of the Obama administration.

MINDHUNTER wasn't perfect, but it thought really hard, sometimes uncomfortably, about why people are fascinated by tales of serial killers, what charisma they have. Netflix is now solely in the business of telling those tales, marketing that charisma, and not thinking about why.

David Fincher says ‘MINDHUNTER’ Season 3 will never happen. “It's a very expensive show and, in the eyes of Netflix, we didn't attract enough of an audience to justify such an investment.” (Source: lejdd.fr/culture/david-…)

Been rewatching PARTY DOWN for an upcoming essay, and I have to say, hats off to them for sustaining the feel-bad vibe many of the workplace-drudgery comedies in its peer group ditched as quickly as possible.

People need to open their hearts to THE OA. Batmanglij and Marling really *tried* something here. Allowing a TV show to get you to a place where this scene makes sense is a transcendent experience.
