my theory is that Indian civilization was once pristinely clean and wealthy. 200 years under slavery made everyone poor. poverty doesn’t allow you to think about shared spaces or anything beyond survival. so we ended up with what we have now (mostly unclean public spaces)

i have strong intuition that once we get to that stage, we'll feel saturated and would crave real life. just like social media, we'll sacrifice one generation to become addicts, but the subsequent ones will know how to balance real life and virtual.
