    Still reeling from the death of my dear friend Emmanuel Farhi. Emmanuel had a tender and compassionate heart; he saw the mystery in things & sought out their poetry. He was a true feminist (a testament to his amazing mother). May his memory be a blessing to us all.

    I’m admitting to tears right now. My first year of the PhD, Michael Kremer blew my world open with the idea that we could do rigorous development work in the field to test creative ideas. He, Abhijit, & Esther have inspired & mentored me and so many others-CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

    This moves me back to when the Iranian revolution had just happened and my father managed to get all our family, including my baby sister and me, age 4, to safety, to Spain and then to Canada, with nothing but our suitcases…1/2

    This pushback against attempting to set boundaries may be the main reason why so many women in our profession decide to coauthor with other women (rather than the alternative reason given, that women coauthoring with each other get more credit than if they coauthor with men)
