The God of Arepo / a comic about a farmer who befriends a nothing god (1/13)
Cover image. A sun-kissed ancient Roman farmer in a big straw hat sits in a shady spot by the forest besides a rustic cairn. Alt text of the following images are from the original short story by Tumblr users writing-prompt-s, sadoeuphemist, stu-pot and ciirianan. Significant additions by me are in brackets.
Temples are built for gods. Knowing this a farmer builds a small temple to see what kind of god turns up.

Missed Connections - about loneliness, social anxiety, and relationships that could have been. (1/3)
    Text:
Missed Connections, a comic by Reimena Yee
Whenever I meet someone new...

Image: A handshake, as the author introduces herself to a group at a table. She joins their conversation...
The style of the comic is red lineart, to represent the red thread of fate (this thread is present in all pages). There are some watercolour-esque effects for the background.
Image: Gradually, as the rest of group connects and begins talking, a lot. The author, however, isn't able to get with the group, and in the end, is left out of the group/conversation, becoming silent. The red thread frays and snaps.

Text: I worry about the connections I have lost.

Image: The author is at a party, talking to a peer. The peer's mutual friend joins in.
Image: The author and the other two laugh and giggle. The convo seems to be going alright. The peer and their friend then withdraw together. The author waves goodbye.

A while later, the author is on the train, going home. She pulls back a strand of hair over her ear, as she looks at her phone, open to Twitter.

Text: Sometimes I wonder...
Text: if I had spoken the right words, made that move, asked that question, been more interesting, looked a bit better, etc...

Image: A letter, a hand, the author being cool and prettier

This Tumblr post sums up my feelings on N-F-Tees and A-I and this complete, cynical commodification and gamification of creating or engaging in art

User "almostsweetangel" posts:

"NYT article abt goncharov has comments like 'what is the purpose of this film's existence these kids are just lying' motherfucker how do you think our ancestors survived. how do you think folklore formed. culture. music. art. PURPOSE????? do you think everything must be commodified? sold? weighed to be valued? has the rot in your soul spread so far you cannot find value in anything not spoken in numbers??? it's FUN. THAT'S WHY. THE PURPOSE IS THE ACT, THE MESSAGE IS THE MEDIUM, THE SYMBOL IS THE STORY. it brings people joy for its mere existence and that IS the point. existence is its purpose alone"

User "startedfollowinme" reblogs and quotes a line from the above with emphasis:

Glass Onion isn’t going to be the perfect film but a movie series where every cast member looks like they are having fun playing silly characters is a sight for sore eyes and a balm of the mind in this dire hollywood landscape

Missed Connections - about loneliness, social anxiety, and relationships that could have been. (3/3)
Image: The peer's friend looks back as the train doors close.

Text: I wonder if they ask the same thing about me. I don't remember where but I once saw, written on a billboard for a church

Image: A billboard high up. It reads in caps: Strangers are just friends you haven't known yet.
Image: Some time later. Author is sipping on bubble tea as she waits for her tram.

Text: That's true. But maybe.

Image: The author walks away. The red thread ends here, not broken, not frayed, just open ended, as she boards a crowded tram, full of strangers - potential friends, lovers, family.

Text: Some strangers are just meant to be strangers.

Missed Connections - about loneliness, social anxiety, and relationships that could have been. (2/3)
Text: ...if things had been different, would they have become part of my life?

Image: The author being best buddies with someone, the author walking down the wedding aisle, the author growing old with a partner/a friend (could be either)
Text: how many relationships have I lost, just because I couldn't capture that small coincidence, that missed chance, that forgotten topic, and thousands of other tiny little details that could have been used to bridge that connection? Is it fate?

Image: Falling leaves, paper planes, speech bubbles
Text: Or is it my own error?

Image: A pair of scissors, cutting the above text.

Text: I don't know. Guess I will never know.

Image: A train arriving at the platform.
Image: The author looks up from her phone. She sees the peer's friend from earlier at the party, stepping out of the train.

Text: Goodbye, my friend, my lover, my family, who I will never seen again.

Image: Train doors close as the author smiles wistfully.

Text: It was nice meeting you.

Loneliness - about making friends with this thing called solitude (1/3)
    Text: Loneliness, by Reimena Yee

Image: 9 panels of the author's life. The author asleep. Brushing her teeth. Scrolling through Twitter. On the train. Walking through a crowd. Browsing a bookstore. Looking at the clouds. Choosing food off a counter. Enjoying a sundae. She is by herself through all of this, except she is being followed (or hanging out?) with a one-eyed humanoid ghost.
The author speaks to the reader:

Text: This is my friend, Loneliness. How did we meet? Ironically

Image: Loneliness is waving hello. Then the author and Loneliness look at each other.
    Text:
When I was a kid, I had no friends 90% of the time at school.
Not that I was hated on or bullied. Just not somehow nobody wanted me to be their friend. Except of course...

Image:
Author as a kid, isolated in her class. She shrugs, resigned to her fate. Then a ghost touches her shoulder.
Text: Being lonely was difficult, sure. And it still is (mild social anxiety). But I had to accept its friendship.

Image: The ghost in snake-form wraps comfortingly around the depressed author. The author drowning inside a cube, with only her fac and fingers visible. The ghost continues its friendly attempts.

Text: So I made sure to learn to enjoy what it gave me

Image: The author people-watching. Enjoying a bit of introspection while looking out the window of a bus. Walking alone and appreciating the sway of the trees. Taking pictures of delicious food and sharing it on social media with the text: This food is all mine MUAHAHA. Having all that time to sit with a read. And finally, the time alone allows the author to notice the beautiful, wonderful, small things she wouldn't have noticed otherwise (a flower growing in the cracks of a pavement).

A thread on creating a story outline based on the Onion Method (one of many valid ways): (1/)
Drawing of an onion cut into half. A pencil is pressed down on one half, as if writing on a book
