Men and women’s preferences differ more in more developed and egalitarian countries, contra idea that diffs arise from “roles.” Hard lives force 2 sexes to focus on necessities; freedom allows diffs to be expressed. science.sciencemag.org/content/362/64…

Over the years I have seen a few masters communicate controversial ideas to hostile interviewers & educate listeners at the same time. This is the best I have ever seen. I will try to emulate. Congratulations @jordanbpeterson

Education embraces many ideas without solid weight-of-evidence---learning styles, multiple intelligences, mindset, group IQ and many more now called neuro-education while treating scientifically compelling intelligence/learning research like Kryptonite.

When 300 professors condemn research from outside their field, apparently without reading it, are they "pseudo-academics"? Academics' Mobbing of a Young Scholar Must be Denounced - Quillette quillette.com/2018/12/07/aca… via @QuilletteM

Grit better than IQ?---less than meets the eye. This interview is great. Also click on the link to the Slate article. There is so much misinformation about intelligence--it's refreshing to see accurate media coverage.

No surprise to researchers familiar with compelling data back to the Coleman Report (1966) & more recent Deary 2007: school & teacher variables together account for less than 10% of variance in school achievement. Next $575M to research on the single best predictor: intelligence?

This won't be the final word but it adds to the discussion about how to have reasoned discourse on complex, controversial and often incendiary issues like intelligence & genetics.

Attended a university symposium on race where speakers criticized TBC for things never said. I challenged them, asking how many actually read it. Only 1 raised her hand. Seriously. I sent each pdfs of TBC pages that specifically refuted their claims. Only 1 acknowledged receipt.

Worth repeating this warning about the very small apparent effect of education on IQ scores! Hardly negates powerful genetic influences. See also: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…

Very sad to see this is how some folks are interpreting our paper. It says nothing about the (extremely strong evidence for) genetic influence on IQ!

Just as predicted by decades of research showing intelligence predicts about half of school achievement variance but teacher/school variables combined no more than 10%. Hard to believe but that’s the replicated data.
